Private 5G security benefits — Part 2
As mentioned in the first part of this article series found here: Five Security Benefits Of Private 5G Versus Public 5G Networks. However, this article will only focus on additional security benefits and no comparison with public 5G networks.
The Fourth Industrial Revolution (Industry 4.0) is driving the adoption of private networks, particularly private 5G, due to their ability to deliver Enhanced Mobile Broadband, Massive Machine-Type Communications (mMTC), and Ultra-Low Latency Communications. Beyond these core capabilities, private 5G offers significant security advantages, and this second article will highlight five additional key benefits not covered in the first article.
1. Reduce Attack Surface: Less Legacy protocol
5G specifications significantly enhance security by eliminating several legacy protocols, thereby reducing complexity and the attack surface, and these legacy protocols are:
- GTP(GPRS Tunneling Protocol) version 0 to version 2
- Diameter
- MAP(Mobile Application Part) version 1 to version 3
- SIP(Session Initiation Protocol) version 1 to 2
- HTTP (Hypertext Transfer Protocol)…
